I see on the website that your wedding hours are until 24h00 can we extend?  

Black Horse wedding venue is located in the Seekoeihoek Valley and unfortunately sound travels. We therefore have very strict hours. Last rounds at the bar is at 23:30, Bar closes at 23:45, Music off at 24:00. Hall and premises must be vacated at 00:30. 

Do you have a DJ or do we need to provide our own?  

We do not have a preferred DJ, although there are a few on our website (Suppliers) that have played here before and whom we can recommend. We do have our own sound system in the Banquet hall so the DJ's links in with our speaker system, do note that the DJ is not allowed to use his own speakers. We also have wireless microphones and these are included in your venue rental.

Please do note that all Dj's should be SAMPRA & SAMRO Licensed

 Can I also have my reception outside in the garden?  

 We do not allow that as we cannot determine what the weather will be like. You can have Pre-snacks outside (please arrange beforehand)

 What is included in the venue hire amount?  

 Included in your venue hire is:

  • Your waiters (If you are doing a plated menu you will get 1 waiter for every 10 guests, buffet 1 waiter for every 20 guests)
  • Your barmen - 2 barmen 
  • Plates, cutlery, glasses, chairs, tables, etc. Have a look at our stock list (Decor List)
  • Setup staff and breakdown staff (2)
When can we setup our flowers and decor?  

Setup is allowed 1 day before your wedding, setup time is from 8am till 5pm. You may also setup the day of your wedding.

Do you have fridges where we can store our flowers?  

No we do not, we only have space for your wedding cake and small items. 

What type of confetti do you allow?  

We only allow biodegradable confetti, i.e. leaves, flower petals.

Do you have an easel for the seating chart?  

Yes we do

Can I have drinks and food from the restaurant?  

Yes, but please ensure you settle your bill directly with your waiter at the restaurant. The restaurant accounts are separate from the wedding section.

The deposit is R15 000.00 correct? What is this for and do I get it back?  

The non-refundable security deposit is a downpayment on your final bill and if you cancel with us we keep it. That is to ensure that if you decide not to get married with us that we already have payment against the venue in case we cannot fill the date again. 

 Is there any other costs or surprise amounts we need to know about?  

Yes, do not forget that we add a R5000 liability deposit to your final invoice. This is refundable within 7 days of your wedding. and is for breakages or missing decor items or outstanding bar tabs.

What time can we start setting up the day before?  

Brides can start setup at 11:00am the day before and check in to the accommodation is at 14:00, if the venue and accommodation are ready beforehand we will let you know.

The venue closes at 24:00, are guest allowed to continue at the guest house?  

Yes, please do try to be not to loud and respect our country environment.

Packing up and cleaning the next day, when do we need to remove our decor?  

The banquet hall opens at 8:00am and guests must please remove their decor items by 11:00am. Our staff will clean the hall.

Can I bring my own wedding cake? Do you make wedding cakes?  

You are welcome to bring your own cake at no additional charge, please do note that we do not provide cake stands or a cake knife and lifter. 

How does corkage work?  

You are welcome to bring in your own drinks but do note that we do charge corkage and there is also a limit on the amount allowed. 

Wine: 2 Bottles for every 8 guests, R50 per bottle

Champagne: Not allowed

Spirits: Not allowed

Soft drinks: Not allowed

Bottles of water: Not allowed


Can we do a tasting?


Yes you can, please do note that Tastings start at R500 p/p. Tastings can be arranged Wednesday to Friday and we recommend it from around 4-6pm. Do note that your menu needs to be decided on already.

Soda bar consists of:  

Water jugs and glasses during the chapel ceremony with mint and lemon water served by waiters.

Soda's during canapé and reception  
 Ginger Beer  
 Raspberry Soda  
 Mango & Orange Soda  
 Strawberry Soda   


Note: These get topped up during your ceremony to ensure that there are always non-alcoholic beverages available at no cost to the guests. Please note selection are subject to change.
